Chattanooga: reinvented with type.
adverve: A couple of typographers (who happen to be based in Chattanooga) are on a mission to change perceptions of the city by creating an official Chattanooga font. Wouldn’t it be cool that as soon as you crossed a town line, all of the typography changed? And what town could we assign to comic sans? Thanks, Eliza!

barneystepney: Political Posters: Work-in-progress Happy new year! One of my new years resolutions I’ve set myself is to post more of my work on this blog as the links on the right of my page are slowly becoming outdated with the new stuff I’ve been producing, one of these being the set of posters shown above to support Aung San Suu Kyi, a Burmese politician and leader of the...

this message might have been crafted by prisoners
adverve: The Society of Design wanted illustrator/designer Jessica Hische to come speak at an annual event they were having. So they talked 34 people into getting custom vanity license plates to produce a one of a kind invitation to visit PA. And she said yes.

Star System Design
Written by Pere Alvaro on Bis Feb 2007 There is no denying that we are immersed in the culture of glamour. And our industry is not alien to it: magazines displaying the latest trends, design awards, exclusive festivals, TV programmes trumpeting the talents of the latest new star … these are elements that stoke our own professional bonfire of the vanities. In our country, we designers have...

Ken Ehrlich
nicksteinhardt: Ken Ehrlich, an artist and one of my university instructors, was dragged and arrested by the police in a protest against the rise of fees in the UC system. He was always incredibly supportive, encouraging open discussion and free thinking. If you feel like donating to a good cause, here is a link to help with his bail and legal fund....

The Day I Saw Van Gogh's Genius in a New Light
asada0: Japanease version The other day, I experienced the “Color Vision Experience Room” at the event of the Hokkaido Color Universal Design Organization (HCUDO), where I had invited to speak. The event’s main objective was to educate the public about the diversity of color vision which exists in our society. The event also sought to promote the idea that any time we make choices about colors,...

Careful. You're walking on the internet.
adverve: This is a fascinating piece about landscape design, park design and the possible future of the ground beneath us. If parks and public ground space is designed by computer, then the next logical step is to map the ground just as designed - so that every hill and valley is produced like it would be in a video game. Once you’re building a park in this manner, then you might as well...

Adverve: Facebook Timeline Used for Anti-Drugs PSA →
adverve: If you’ve pictured the future of humanity post-Facebook Timeline, you’re not alone. It has a lot of colourful implications for our weird desire to archive life and skim through those of others. Which is at least one reason why Israel’s Anti-Drug Authority saw a ripe opportunity to spread…
